Your hospital stay
If you have an outpatient appointment with a specialist, this will take place in one of our clinics.
Your appointment letter / SMS text or My半岛体育Health Record app will tell you the details of the clinic and where you’ll need to go for your appointment. Please make sure you arrive no more than 10 minutes before your appointment time.
Our staff will do their best to help you be seen as soon as possible, however delays are sometimes unavoidable. You will be informed if your appointment is not running to schedule. Please bear in mind that there will be other patients in the waiting room who may be there to see a different clinician so they could be called before you even if they arrive later.
At your appointment, you will see either a consultant or a specialist member of the team. If you have any questions or concerns about your condition or treatment, please ask during your appointment or contact the clinical team.
Please bring your appointment letter with you and also any medication you currently take, in its original container. This is so the team can see the strength and dosage of your medicines.
We strongly advise that you do not bring any items of value (financial or sentimental) into the hospital as we have very limited secure storage facilities and cannot be held liable for any property lost on our premises.
Please speak to a senior nurse if you require safe storage of small items.
Please be aware that all hospitals in 半岛体育 Health have a no smoking or vaping policy.
Smoking is not permitted in our buildings or in any of our grounds. The same applies to the use of e-cigarettes (e-cigs or vapes).
For help to stop smoking, please contact our stop smoking service.
We aim to respect the privacy, dignity, religion and cultural beliefs of every patient. Please let us know at clinic if you have any specific needs.
On arrival please make sure to check-in either at one of the self-service kiosks or reception desks. This is important as it tells the nursing staff that you’ve arrived for your appointment.
The check-in kiosks are similar to those used at GP surgeries and airports. You can also use them to update your contact details.
After checking in, you’ll be directed to the appropriate waiting area where a nurse will call you for your appointment. Staff will be on hand to help guide you through the process and answer any queries you may have.
The kiosk or receptionist may ask you to confirm your details. This could include your:
The data we record about you is to ensure we have accurate information about you and can give you the right care. It also helps us plan our healthcare services in a way that delivers the best possible patient experience.
When your appointment is finished you may be told you need a follow-up appointment. This will either be booked in by the receptionists at the clinic or picked up by the speciality clinical administration teams. They will let you know the date and time of the follow-up appointment by letter, text or through the My半岛体育Health Record app.
