How Do You Feel About…

         A conveyance tax for buyers

A law requiring buyers to do a well test at a cost of about $600

A law making real estate commissions subject to sales tax

A law requiring real estate agents to provide a signed statement for every  transaction saying that they didn’t get a kickback

A bill requiring sellers to disclose any environmental contamination that occurred within 1500 feet of their property within the past 25 years.

A law forbidding real estate agents from giving any information about home inspectors other than referring people to the yellow pages

Legislation allowing banks to operate their own real estate brokerage companies

Legislation which would eliminate all of the real estate capital gains and mortgage interest deductions to create a flat income tax

This is not a rhetorical question. Every one of these ideas was or is a serious piece of legislation proposed here in Connecticut or in the U.S. Government. All of them have been halted, so far, by the efforts of our National and Connecticut Associations of REALTORS®. One of the big reasons we are able to affect legislation is that the small contributions we give to our legislators through RPAC gives us an opportunity to be heard when we have an issue. Your contribution to RPAC is vital in helping us protect our industry and property owners. Please give today and if you have any questions about how RPAC works call one of the members of your RPAC committee.

RPAC BACKS LOCAL CANDIDATE BINGHAM FOR RE-ELECTION AS MAYOR OF TORRINGTON

The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has endorsed a local candidate, Ryan Bingham, running for re-election as Mayor of Torrington.  RPAC became involved with this particular race at the request of an individual REALTOR® who sent in  a "REALTOR®" Recommendation.

According to Gene Fercodini, Chair of the RPAC Trustees, "RPAC is a voluntary group of REALTORS® who band together to identify and support those seeking public office who favor free enterprise, housing opportunity and choice, and protection of private property rights." The funds are separate and apart from their Association membership dues.

On two separate occasions Ryan spoke at CAR events; Politics 101 in 2006 and the January 2007 Power of Political Involvement Conference. Both events were well attended by both REALTORS® and the public.

RPAC is proud to step up in support of Ryan as he seeks re-election on Tuesday, November 6.  Remember to get involved and support this candidate with both your volunteer time AND your vote on Election Day!  Thank you.

Look below to see your RPAC dollar$ at work!

RPAC Chair Jack Capone presented  Mayor Ryan Bingham with a RPAC check on October 5th.  Mayor Bingham received this check because a member(s) submitted an RPAC Candidate Recommendation Form for the Torrington Mayoral race and Torrington Mayor Ryan Bingham was chosen to receive the support of RPAC.   Please keep in mind that in next year's State race you too can recommend a candidate of your choice.  Should you like to recommend a candidate for State or a Local race please complete and submit the form above.
