MEMBERSHIP TYPES

THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP ARE AVAILABLE
 IN LITCHFIELD COUNTY BOARD OF REALTORS
®, INC.  

Applications         Cost of Membership

DESIGNATED REALTOR®  (Primary):   There is only one Designated REALTOR® (DR).  The Broker and head of the office or firm.  A Brokers license is required for this type of membership.  Designated REALTORS® may vote, hold elective office and serve on committees of the Board.  Secondary Designated REALTORS® may not vote or hold elective office.  The Board Indoctrination Course is mandatory for this type of Membership.   (Please check our Calendar page for dates & times.)

DESIGNATED REALTOR®  (Secondary):  This type of Membership is for a Designated REALTOR® who belongs to a Board/Association in Connecticut and who would like to join a second Board/Association.   A Brokers license is required for this type of membership.  Secondary Designated REALTORS® may not vote or hold elective office.  The Board Indoctrination Course is mandatory for this type of Membership.    (Please check our Calendar page for dates & times.)

REALTOR®  (Primary):   Anyone who holds a valid Connecticut real estate license may join the Board as a REALTOR®.  A broker’s license is not required.   The Broker must join the Board as Designated REALTOR® before salespersons may apply.   A REALTOR® has the right to vote and hold elective office.  They may serve on any committee of the Board.  The Board Indoctrination Course is mandatory for REALTOR® Membership.  (Please check our Calendar page for dates & times.)

REALTOR® (Secondary):  Anyone who holds a valid Connecticut real estate license may join the Board as a REALTOR®.  A broker’s license is not required.   The Broker or branch office manager must join the Board as Designated REALTOR® before salespersons may apply.   A Secondary REALTOR® cannot vote or hold elective office.  They may not serve on committees of the Board.  The Board Indoctrination Course is mandatory for REALTOR® Membership.  (Please check our Calendar page for dates & times.)

10 WAYS YOUR REALTOR MEMBERSHIP CAN PAY FOR ITSELF!

For those salespersons choosing not to join the Board, there is a separate status: 

NON-MEMBER LICENSEE:      A non-member Licensee is NOT a member of the Board.  All moneys for the non-member Licensee must come from the Designated REALTOR®.  The Board Indoctrination Course is not required.  Non-member Licensee’s may not vote or hold elective office.  In cases or arbitration, the Designated REALTOR® is solely responsible.  

AFFILIATE:   This category is for those who do not hold a real estate license, yet have interests requiring information concerning real estate.  They may not hold elective office.  They are entitled to vote on issues concerning their Affiliate Membership.  Affiliates may serve on committees.  The Indoctrination Course is not required for this type of Membership. 

CTMLS-ONLY MEMBERSHIP:    This Membership class is available to Brokers who hold primary REALTOR® Membership in another Board/Association and who do not desire the services of this Board, except for the Connecticut Multiple Listing Service.  They may not vote, hold elective office or serve on a committee of the Board.  CTMLS Rules & Regulations training is required for this type of Membership.  (Check our calendar page for training dates & times).  Sales agents in an CTMLS-Only Member firm may acquire access to and use of the Service upon payment of appropriate fees.

Note:     In Boards/Associations that have REALTOR®-Associate Membership, usually a REALTOR®-Associate does not have the right to vote.  Litchfield County Board of REALTORS®, Inc. is an all REALTOR® board.
