2010 Gift Card Presentation Video
We need your help to collect as many gift cards as possible to help children taken into care in our area. Many children placed into Connecticut’s foster care system have their young lives turned upside down, because they are moved into a foster care placement at a moments’ notice, often with no more possessions than the clothes on their backs.
In an effort to reduce some of the hardship these children have to endure, LCBR created the REALTORS® Have a Heart for Kids campaign. This program is designed to assist the children in Connecticut’s foster care system by holding a drive to collect gift cards and or checks made payable to LCBR REALTORS® Have a Heart for Kids for retail stores such as Kmart, Wal-Mart and Stop N Shop. All of the gift cards collected will be given to the DCF office located on Kennedy Drive in Torrington and will be used to assist children in the Litchfield County area.
These gift cards will be used to support the children, by allowing their social worker to purchase clothes, health care products, formula, diapers, school supplies, toys, or even a stuffed animal to keep the child company in their new surroundings. Our objective is to ensure that these uprooted children have some familiar items to take with them and to ensure that their immediate needs are met.
One of the ways these gift cards assist the Department of Children & Families with fulfilling a child’s needs includes allowing their social worker to immediately purchase formula, diapers, clothing, etc. for an infant placed in their care.
Another way DCF uses the cards to support these children is by creating various age appropriate placement packs, to have on hand for immediate use, consisting of clothing, health and beauty aid products, toys, personal items, etc and a “few” goodies to comfort an abused/neglected child through the trauma of entering a strange, new environment.
Please, We need you to donate at least one gift card to these deserving children. All gift cards will hopefully be a minimum of Five Dollars ($5.00) from Kmart, Wal-Mart or Stop N Shop and be clearly marked to indicate the value of the gift card. For your convenience, you may make a donation by submitting cash or a check made payable to LCBR REALTORS® Have a Heart for Kids. All proceeds from cash or check donations will be converted to gift cards and distributed to the Department of Children & Families. Your contributions may be dropped off, during normal business hours from Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., or mailed to the following address.
